We are often caught up in an internal monologue, or even dialogue in our head. At times, that thinking can focus on what we don’t want in our life. Focusing on what we don’t want induces stress, concern, and even frustration and melancholy – all emotions created by thinking about what we think is going to happen. In reality we haven’t got a clue what’s going to happen.
Rather than being caught up in the internal drama that is caused by focusing on what we don’t want, we can very simply shift our focus on to what we do want. If we want peace and calmness, then by having that intent we can powerfully shift our experience of the day.
Rather than focusing on what we don’t want, it is so much more powerful to focus on what we want.
So, any time you notice that you’re getting caught up in intense thinking about the things you don’t want in your life – gently let it go. Redirect the attention on to what you want. If it’s a positive outcome, focus on that.
As they say, be part of the solution rather than the problem.
Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want.
