Occasionally when we are interacting with some people we can become judgmental; or we may think that things are different than what they actually are; or we can become frustrated with our communication with others. An effective approach is to ‘Walk a mile in someone else’s shoes’. By swinging the perspective around, and walking in their shoes for a moment, we often get to see the other person’s situation, and needs. From that perspective we can start to communicate with more empathy and understanding.

Have you ever noticed a little voice inside your head that sometimes isn’t very nice to you? We can be amazingly kind and nurturing towards others but very critical and unloving of ourselves. When you notice that self-judging voice, see the possibility that what it is saying isn’t true. Try treating yourself as if you are your best friend. Have a go at being kind to yourself.
